DOYLESTOWN, PA – Brian Fitzpatrick, former FBI Supervisory Special Agent and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, released the following statement Wednesday regarding the Administration’s illegal payment of $400 million (and $1.3 billion in interest) to Iran:
“As a former FBI Supervisory Special Agent focused on combating terrorism, it is unconscionable that the Administration, in its attempts to advance the misguided nuclear deal with Iran, would deliver, literally, a plane full of money to Tehran – the world’s largest state-sponsor of terrorism. It is no secret what this $400 million, delivered in foreign currency, behind the backs of the American people and in defiance of U.S. law, will go toward: increased support for groups like Hezbollah and the continued exportation of terror around the globe. Moreover, the paying of ransoms to terrorists and their state-sponsors puts our national security at risk and threatens the safety of Americans abroad.
The Iran nuclear deal was rejected by Congress and the American people, yet the Administration continues to show how far they will go to support a country who oppresses its own citizens and advocates for the destruction of Israel as well as all western democracies.
Simple disagreement with this fatally flawed deal is not enough. I call on my opponent to show leadership and stand with me in advocating for the reversal of this dangerous agreement and to reject this Administration’s failed policies which have destabilized the Middle East and have made the world less safe – the very policies Hillary Clinton would continue as president.”
For nearly a decade and a half, Fitzpatrick served as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation where his focus was fighting political corruption and supporting global counter terrorism efforts. He served as the National Director for the FBI’s Campaign Finance and Election Crimes Enforcement Program, as well as a national supervisor for the FBI’s Political Corruption Unit. For his work, Fitzpatrick was an inaugural recipient of the FBI Director’s Leadership Award. Additionally, Fitzpatrick served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, prosecuting violent drug and gun offenders to stem the tide of abuse and violence.
